Just use a very fine saw like a hacksaw, do not use a conventional wood saw unless you fancy spending a long time sanding down laminate splinters.
A hacksaw slices through laminate without splintering and if you're careful you just need to sand the bottom down slightly, then revarnish to keep any moisture out of the laminate.

Default pull saw?

yep , I did what Colin said with tape and a fine hacksaw and was promptly told that a cheap screwfix pull saw was the bizzo, apparently they cut like hot knife through butter ,
Cant comment on this as I have never used or seen one

Jason - I did a tidy job using a standard hacksaw fitted with an 24 tpi (teeth per inch) hacksaw blade. I used take around the grip as a guide, and the finished result was smoother than Miley Cyrus's (I'll leave it there...)

Don't rush the job, and hold the stock in a workmate. I got my Mrs to stand on the workmate to stop any bouncing about. (Not that she's fat or anything!)

Or if you can get to Zindavud in the Vorrezt of Dean you can check mine, and I'll adjust yours.

It'll cost you a coffee!
