Default Frustration...

And not even regarding shots you should have made.

Looking for a scope to sit on top of the EV2. Can now afford a Falcon T50 - but I have to admit, the big Nikko seems a better scope. Having played with both, the Nikko gives a more forgiving head position, clearer picture and the turrets have a lovely, positive feel with no squidge or looseness.

So another couple of months of saving ahead, then? Should be easy, right?

Nope. Just had a play with a March. I know, not really sensible, is it? Now, all of a sudden, my scope ambitions have raised to the price of a car. 2 grand plus? Someone talk me out of this quickly, please! The Nikko is the sensible option here... am I right?

Neither the Nikko or March will hit the target for you. Get a 2nd hand Nikko and give it a season or so before spending the hard earned.

Sounds right to me. It's the frustration of not being able to use the EV2 whilst I get the cash together for the scope, but wanting to get the best I can. Having played around with the Nikko, it seems to be perfectly good (better than I will be, for sure) so that's the way to go. Just need to find one second hand and get out there shooting...

Conor is an excellent shot, World Top 10 overall for me and uses the x80 March
Jack currently the world champion and also top 10, he uses a nikko

Start with the Nikko, and if your not in the top 10 of the world in a couple of years, try something else.

If I'm not in the top 10 of the world in a couple of years, I'm pretty sure that it won't be my scope choice that's holding me back!

Then there is no need to worry about the scope, as long as it range finds and tracks.
Good luck finding something and getting used to it over the winter.

Good advice in this thread.

Calps and others have and do use Nikkos to great effect. Their rangefinding capabilities are enough to take you right to the top. This has been proven many times. There's barely a trophy across the nation that hasn't been got without one.

If you think your frustration is bad now, wait till you've dropped 2-3k and you are not hitting targets still. I've seen it happen a few times, someone drops 1000s and doesnt become champ, gets despondent and the kit is up for sale 6 months later.

As other have stated the Nikko will be more than adequate, I use one on my EV2 and they are a phenomenal scope for the price...

I would buy the Nikko and when you have practiced enough that your scores reach the point where you are only losing points due to misranging a target; upgrade to the March. Before that point any advantage the March offers over the Nikko will not be utilized, that's how I would look at it anyway

Go for the Nikko, but make sure you get someone who knows the scope give it the once over before parting with the cash...

I have heard of issues with them. Can anyone elaborate on this? It'll be useful to know, particularly if I have to dip into the 2nd hand market for them.

(Sorry, this has probably been covered before. I'll try to catch up...)
