Default Parallax setting

Looking at the Optics warehouse site it says

'Parallax Setting 15 to infinity'

I cant seem to find out which units '15' refers to?

Is it definitely 15 yards??

Yes, it's an American scope, they don't know what metres are.

John uses a Leupold 50ft adaptor to get close focus, the same as almost every Leupold 20-50 user.

Hello all
Review writing is not my strong point so I will list what I have found the pros and cons to be with the scope soo far

Pros
I have been using the scope for a few months now and found it to be very clear and precise with the range finding.
it weighs 29 Oz.
The turrets are very clear and have a very positive click to them.
The reticule for me is great as there is nothing in the top half of the scope allowing very easy range finding with no obstructions.
To compare the scope in range finding it is somewhere between the leupold and the sightron ( it is not quite as slow focusing as the leupold but not as snappy as the sightron until the very last half yard on the longer targets.
It seems to stand up to recoil
It also seems to deal well with temp shift, moved 3-4 yards in extreme heat.
Lifetime warranty including accidental damage.
Price is looking to be 1450

Cons
The reticule is very fine! Can be lost if not concentrating fully.could do with an illuminated reticle
Scope only comes down to 12 yards, I haven't reparalaxed this as it is on loan. Leupold close focus works a treat at the moment.

Sorry if the spelling is not up to much I'm on my phone!

@ custompaint
Is it worth the difference in price compared to the sightron?

Thanks a lot!. It's a very clear summary. Yes, the big question is: is it better at rangefinding than the sightron?. I have a sightron, (not the illuminated version), and is hard to get the same reading from 46 to 50 meters every time. Some mates told me that the illuminated version is better at rangefinding than the version I have but it has no sense for me if they have the same optic.

I think in that respect it is down to individual choice and preferences. Personally I really don't like leupold scopes for field target although many love them.

I do prefer the vortex over the sightron, I have 2 sightrons and it ranges as well as they do, I have not had a single issue with the golden eagle miss ranging targets but nor did I have this with the sightron, however i have re-parallaxed these to suit me!

I have found the golden eagle is less prone to 'white out' though which is handy!
The best advice I can give you is if you get chance to pick one up and have a look through one then do so as many people have lots of different preferences and what suits me may not suit you all

I also think the warranty that comes with the vortex is worth the extra cost!
