Default Suitable rifle for a 13 year old?

Hi all. My 13 year old daughter has been a member of the Air Cadet organisation for a couple of years and has developed an interest in target shooting (amongst other things) as a result of this. She is keen to develop this interest outside of her Air Cadet endeavours and with a local club and own a air rifle of her own. As somebody who has no clue whatsoever about this kind of thing, could anybody advise me on a suitable rifle for a beginner of her age, the best place to look for both brand new and possibly second hand air rifles and riflescopes for sale and the relevant security issues that I should to take into account with holding a firearm (of sorts) in my home?

Thanks in advance for any advice offered.

Have s look at some local clubs near where you are, the s400 superlight is a good staring rifle. It depends then on if you want FT or HFT

Safety is treat it as with any rifle makes no difference if it's a .177 or a .50. Keep it secured and out of reach of anyone not authorised to use it,
I have a 2 1/2 year old so it's always locked in a pelli case and never loaded other than when it's about to be fired.

Air Arms S200, light, short reach of pull, cheap and accurate, ideal as a starter rifle for children.

Bought our 11 year old son an S400 which has been faultless, the things are so rugged I don't think much goes wrong with them. The standard stock was a tad 'scrawny' so got a custom adjustable stock for a better fit once he settled into HFT & it wasn't going to be a one weekend shoot only.

The carbine version is a little lighter & gives a good steady 60 shots, over 25 shots it has a spread of 6Fps.

Good luck with your decision & hope your daughter enjoys it at much as our son does.

Thanks for the advice and pointers folks. I'll make the S400 my starting point given the good rep it seems to have. I'll let you know how we get on. Matt.

I got my step daughter a cz200 hunter \ aa s200. great light weight rifle & the barrels are very good on them. Its fine for HFT use & its easy to work on if or when needed.

But I don't know what SA is like for air rifles sorry.
