Default Piston scores in FT

If springers arn't graded the same as PCPs why don't they have their own scoring like the open class has

Because you have to adhere to the same rules unlike Open at a guess. Must say I'm not a fan of the awarding of 100% with clearing the course either but that's a different can of worms.

Often wondered the same, as springers and the open class don't affect shooters grade why do we need to grade them grading only used for the main PCP shooters so they compete against shooters of the ability.

Hi Steve

How would it benefit from scoring independently?

Shaun I understand where your coming from but that does not answer Steve's question.

All grades shoot the same targets in the same way, so they are scored the same. This means anyone, including Spring gun shooters can win the GP.
The obvious exception is the open class where the disciplines are shot in a different way, thus the need for a different scoring system.

I believe what Shaun is asking, is what benefit would there be in scoring the spring gun class differently?

I'm not sure that there is an answer. When the scoring system was points then each grade and class was scored independently. When we navigated to percentage there was no consideration to score other than the present system. Hence my question. An argument that piston class should not be judged against the highest score of the day would probably be equally valid for any grade other than AA. Also, a piston shooter can presently be that benchmark by shooting top score. And, most important, the system allows a piston shooter to win the GP series

My dropped score is from a round where I was top score in piston and I could also potentially drop another round where I was top, they weren't high scores but still top in piston

I've also wondered why this is as it does seem so unfair...
I mean we all know shooting springer is harder than shooting PCP right Steve.........
Olympic men and women both do the same 100 meters but they don't run together... so maybe make springer the same as PCP AA, A, B etc .? no?

Ah

That is possible in any grade.

And an argument for scoring from position.
