Default BSA Goldstar SE filling port

Why is the dust cover on the filling port of the Goldstar SE virtually impossible to use rendering it useless.
It has been like that since new but I have recently upgraded to a larger air cylinder, when I emptied the cylinder of air the dust cover turned freely and pulled of easily yet filled with air it's a different story.
Is there a problem with my gun or is this a common problem?

Mine went stiff, had same question.
The answer was to pull it off and wipe the inside with a dry oily cleaning cloth.

We were told vaseline but so far I've not needed to use it.

Mine has been like that since new. I tried to twist it off anticlockwise and it ended up undoing the fill valve on the end of cylinder- not good!

Default BSA gold Star SE Filling Port

It's a common problem- mine has been the same since purchased. I use a touch of silicone grease on the O ring.
