Dean, the cz barrel is "out on loan" to Gordon. That cz lbarrel really liked die 5 jsb 4.51's 2014 vintage (and being really really clean)! it's only medium to strong wind that catches me &/or the barley twist barrel out?

It would be interesting to find out more results about the different Steyr barrels (Std and Barley twist),and BSA and HW as any of those might buck the trend.
Luckily my Steyr barrel up to now follows the standard barrel trends for all of my AA barrels.

I have 2 batches of AA field (die 3 & 10) 1 batch of 4.52 & 4.53 jsb's all are 2016.

Shooting at 55 yards through my TX at 750 fps AA field shoot within a 25 mm circle and are streets ahead of jsb 4.52s. Jsb' 4.53s won't group at all but at 750 fps they all take a lot of wind.

At 775 fps all 4 batches shoot within a 35 mm circle (due to the extra recoil ) but the 4.53s take two thirds less wind (dunno why but they do). They all shoot the same trajectories too.

At 775 fps there is no discern-able difference between any of the 4.52s at any range out to 55 yards but the 4.53s take a lot less wind.

So it could be some pellets work better at different velocities.

I've heard this theory too about different pellet speeds giving better/worse groups & "wind cheating" abilities but never had a chance to test it! I'd sacrifice a bit of group size for wind cheating any day

Thank you, cos that's my dilemma. At 750 fps the gun shoot's like a pcp, and is a joy to shoot. But that extra pre tension is a bit yuk. So it looks like I'll be opting for a yukky gun to cheat the wind
