Default Adjusting min px distance on vortex viper pst.

Hi guys.I have on the way the little 2-10 x32 pst.
The minimum focus distance is quoted at 35 yards.
It does come down a touch lower but not really where I ideally want it,

So question..... when I bring it down , should I have the side wheel backed back to lowest value?
Also I intend to use it for hft but as I often end up using my guns hunting and all sorts is it worth coming back to say 15 yards as the minimum? And then just tweeking side wheel up to say 25 ish or whatever takes my fancy when doing a bit hft?
Or am I completely barking up the wrong tree. Likely.....
