suggest 30x + to range find well enough. 50x prob most common.
i'm not perfect, but I shoot FT, reality is this is pretty much the same thing!

Join your nearest club and see what all the people there are using.

Spend time asking to look through and try as many different scopes as possible, then decide what your budget is.

Most popular are likely to be Sightron S111 10 - 50 and (Big) Nikko Sterling Diamond 10 - 50.

As Gary said, around 32 mag is usually considered the minimum to get a shallow depth of field and therefore accurate range finding.

Default Scopes

Why don't you pop down to Sywell on Sunday morning
There will be most of the scopes mentioned above if you want to have a look through them .
Have a look at the website for accurate directions and if you do come make sure you have your boots on ,it's a bit muddy after this weekends shoot .

The most popular is a variable magnification of around 10-50. As a general rule I think it's fair to say that most FT'ers shoot on anything between 20-35 mag and range find on 50. There are also some fixed mag scopes that are more than useable on the FT circuit; it's all down to personal pref.

As mentioned below, get down to your local club and try out a few of the many options out there.
