Default Pellet Question

I've been shooting HFT for a few months now and love it, but our closest club is an a good hour away. There is an indoor club in my town and am going to do a bit of bench rest for fun.

I'm using JSB Exacts in my MPR and was wondering wether to use a more target type pellet indoor, and if so will it affect the rifle in any way. Bit of an odd question I know but didn't know if the different pellets would affect the accuracy in any way when I went back to the exacts ( if any of that makes any sense )

shouldn't... there's talk of needing to lead a barrel in after shooting a different brand but... who knows...

what's up with shooting the exacts indoors?

Wadcutters are great for making nice clean holes in paper, but are typically used at 10m.
What distance are you shooting at? I'm guessing 25m? I don't know how accurate they are at that range, I suspect that's on the edge of the range where their poor ballistics might make them a little less stable in flight (that's a guess though, I don't know for sure)

I've shot wadcutters at 25m indoors (JSB Match) and the group was pretty much the same as exacts. The holes were much crisper though as BS says. I couldn't say if it had other effects though.

So sounds like just stick to the exacts and should be fine. I've been given half a box of the premiums to try which are supposed to be reasonable, but being essentially the same pellet just hand picked if guess would make no difference

got some exact premiums here that are 8,4 but short bodied like express.

so not just hand picked exacts .........dunno if they are all like that

Stay with which ever pellet groups best for you on the HFT course / outside, unless BR becomes the primary discipline for you then reverse the logic!
I become increasingly convinced that knowing your set up intimately is critical.

We have about a dozen club members who shoot bench rest indoors at 20 yards, competing at County level. They all apart from one use Exacts or Expresses. The odd one out uses H&N FTTs. We have given up on using wadcutters, apart from in 22 calibre for LSR.
