Default Advice on Flying BA with Airrifile

I have family flying from the UK to South Africa on BA and they will be bringing back a EV2 MK3 for me. I am battling to get a straight answer on whether the airrifle can be checked in as normal luggage or whether I need to treat it as a firearm and incur the 50 pound fee for transporting a firearm.

Any help would be most appreciated.

It will need to go as sporting luggage and will be subject to that fee.

And that is per direction (something to keep in mind should you need to return with an empty gun case).

this thread may be of further use, but feel free to ask as a number of UK shooters made the trip with BA this year to the worlds.

Think B.A were putting up the prices in october(to 70ish) after we came back from the worlds

If the rifle is coming into england make sure no ammunition is in it or in any other bags(suggest wait to buy pellets) as the gun and ammunition has to be handled by security.

make sure you have something to say the serial no. of rifle and its under 12ftlbs

should be a breeze LOL

you have to wait for the rifle to be brought to the luggage carousel and then go through the security.

you cannot get through the quickie service that BA offer.

Thanks Loopyloo

The boarding process is underway as we speak.

I will update the thread tomorrow when I will either be very happy or not so much...
