Thoroughly enjoyed the day at Oaktree despite the somewhat inclement weather! Had the pleasure of following Gilly (who was partnering my Butty,Gadget) for the latter stage of the morning session. What an exhibition of shooting at it's finest, hats off to you Sir (48/50).
It was my first experience at one of these events and was there purely as an observer. Big thanks to Mike and Simon for organizing the day, I know what work and effort goes into these events. Even having to be towed out of the field by tractor at the end of the morning session didn't put a dampener on the day (excuse the pun).
It will be a while before I develope/learn the skill set required to get to the stage when I can actually compete in these events but it's something to aspire to.
And finally a big thank you to Gadget who kindly loaned me his Clint Eastwood Poncho for the day. Cheers Mate.

Big thanks to Oaktree, for all the hard work that was put into the course,I must admit I nearly didn't shoot, but after driving for the 90 mile trip there,I bit the pellet and went and shot.

Thanks to Simon, Mike and all the helpers who laid out a top course, obviously a great deal of thought and hard work went into its construction.

Thanks also for making the course adjustments to suit the extremely poor weather conditions today, I'm sure that would have been appreciated by all. I would love to shoot it again, but on a dry and sunny day of course.

Apologies to Simon and crew for not turning up after booking. Set out from Rhayader nice and early, quick drop off at Swansea and then timed nicely to arrive mid morning, coffee burger, sillies, briefing.
First problem was waking up with flu, second was the A470, which decided against Sunday blasts across Brecons in favour off zero visibility, multiple shunts.
i didn't cancel as I kept looking at the old watch...okay, miss food, sillies and shoot.....okay forget food, sillies, zeroing just go to briefing....okay it's now 1.00pm and I'm stuck by a 10k M4 road sign telling me driving conditions are difficult. The static traffic and recovery agents making a tidy sum could also tell me that
I could certainly see the weather you chaps fought through from a distance of only a few miles. Congrats to the top shots and my colleagues in Open for some good shooting .
