Default scope rail

Hi, could some of you technical shooter tell me what's the best choice for a scope rail ==> dovetail to dovetail or dovetail to weaver?

Kind regards

What mount type do you use?, and you have your answer, although i personally have always used sportsmatch mounts were possible with standard air rifle rail fit, for the last 30 years and dont/can't see any reason to use weaver mounts.

I use a weaver rail with the Leapold quick release mounts mate.

Let's you take the scope off and put back on without loosing the zero, there's bars in the bottom of the mounts if you keep these against one of the weaver bars it aligns it back up.

Default scope rail

depends on what you like, I prefer weaver/pic because they feel more secure and I prefer the look

Same as Dave been using Sportsmatch for 20 odd years, robust, cheap, reasonably well made and more importantly able to swap and change scopes guaranteeing zero. Will need a proper cut dovetail though.

Theres no standard rifle dovetail across the manufacturers, in fact can have three different rail sizes on same gun by same producer that will drop straight over other producers dovetails.
Weaver wont have as much grab circa 1.89mm as a proper dovetail 3.65mm, neither does the superior picatinny/Stanag circa 2.6mm grab depth which is to a spec. Realistically all they offer is set stops to position the mount which can mean not getting the correct eye relief as you are unable to slide mount down the rail or have only one critical position the mount can be fixed to the scope tube.
