Default Best way to post a rifle now ??

Does anyone know the best way to post a rifle these days ?? I have heard of rifles dissapearing off to NI to be destroyed etc.. is this true ??

Any advice would be appreciated

ParcelForce48 are the only courier that will knowingly carry an air rifle for retail customers. The maximum insurance is 100 - not any good if you are considering sending anything valuable.
Royal Mail will carry smaller packages such as pistols.
No other couriers allow air rifles in their terms and conditions, however some people have mentioned AWExpress, you could google them and give them a try if you like.
The reason that some items go to Belfast is due to Royal Mail using planes to carry post. If the xray machine shows up something dodgy, it can go to Belfast for checking. PF48 do not use planes and parcels don't get xrayed.

Some couriers have different terms for trade clients and will accept firearms moving from one RFD to another.

My local RFD allows me to use his service. Outbound I make up the parcel and take it to his workshop where his courier collects, and I pay the RFD. Inbound, the sender pays and I hand over a tenner to the RFD for the inconvenience and the paperwork.
