Talking A wonderful weekend

I have just returned home from one of the most enjoyable and memorable weekends I have had for a long time. I went to the Bisley GP Round 5 with some trepidation and apprehension. But having traveled down in the morning and spent Saturday afternoon and evening finding my way around Bisley and exploring, I somehow knew it was going to be OK. The weather was good; I had an entire campsite to myself: And I spent two hours of the evening on the BFTO zeroing range. Sunday morning dawned - I booked in with Lyndeen, collected my card, and met one or two faces I recognised and several names that I knew. I found myself teamed up with Simon (Ratinator) and Neil (Neil) They have got to be two of the stars of the GP FT community. Simon has been feeding me info and encouragement for the last three weeks (thank you, sincerely, for that Simon) and they both continued to do that during the first few lanes. By the end of the 25 lanes, I felt as if I'd been shooting FT all my life - except that I was hitting very few targets. I scared a lot of them but killed only a few. But given that I had arrived with no expectations, going away with 6 on my scorecard was a bonus. The real privilege of the day, for me, was to meet so many wonderful, generous and encouraging people; all of whom made it clear to me that they were there to do exactly the same thing as me. To do their best.
I returned to the course for the afternoon round with my camera. I met Holly, an event I couldn't have come away from Bisley without doing. I talked to lots of people and thoroughly enjoyed being amongst a truly down-to-earth, warm and spontaneous (in the broadest sense of the word) group of people.

Thank you all.
I think I feel a more appropriate scope coming on.
Then I will be back. Maybe not with a vengeance, but certainly with a smile on my face.

I will upload some of my photos during the next few days

Well done Jack, I have been reading your posts with great interest and I was pleased you decided to go ahead and shoot your first Field Target GP.

It does not really matter about the score, so long as you had a great days shooting and I know that you could not have spent it with a more friendly and helpful bunch of people. ..... many of whom have given me good advice over the years and we all try to help each other, especially new people coming into our sport.

Glad you enjoyed the day and hopefully you will be attending another GP in the near future.

Great to meet up and chat with you Jack. You certainly had your work cut out going round the course with that pair of dodgy characters. Every time I looked around at you from the next lane, you had a smile on our face...mainly from all the barracking from Neil. You were thrown in at the deep end of FT with that course, they don't come much tougher. Really hope you have another go it would be great to see you out there again enjoying yourself...regardless of how many you knock over. All the best mate. Neil-T.

Default An inspiration

It was a pleasure to accompany you today and i hope we'll see you again in the future.
I think any one that can get a grip on life's throat and say bring it on,is an inspiration that can only be admired.
Which ever form of shooting you decide is best for you,i wish you luck.

Just read that you have met 'Holly' well apparently there are therapy sessions now available on the NHS for that condition LOL.

Well done mate, there's nothing like your first GP and you happened to pick a tough one, very long course with a sly breeze, take credit for what you hit everyone had to work hard yesterday. I'm sorry I didn't say hello myself, it's only this morning that I realised you were the gent walking the course with camera in the afternoon session. As everyone says, go home proud and book into Redfearns straight away; see you there

Glad to see you had a smile on your face, being lumped in at the deep end with Daniels and surviving. Get signed up for Redfearns I think you're hooked

Default Thanks

Thank you all, for such a warm welcome.
Redferns - double figures. Decent scope or not.
And between now and then, I'm going to practice kneeling, so that I don't fall over
