Default Leupold advice

I've acquired a leupold vari-x III 6.5-20, it's been fitted with a premier 14.5-35x attachment to increase its distance.

My question is can the premier attachment be removed to revert the scope to its original spec or has the fitting of this involved more than screwing it on. I have tried to unscrew it but its either tight or been treated to some locktight.

I've got one and it is spot on for rangeing but bug awful when the poi changes with small amounts of temp variations. I did hear Nick Jenks changed the internal bearings to solve this.
If you send it back to Leupolds for service they will convert it back to original state even if you don't want it done!
Apparently the original state was really good.
