Practice will improve your shooting, however, I have heard it said:

'you cant shoot what you cant see' which for me is my justification for buying the 'slightly pricier' optics - I am a big fan of leupold scopes.

I have the EFR which I use for hunting and LSR, although HFT will be more than possible with it if you are happy with a duplex ret (although I believe you can get it changed to milldot or TMR at a cost).
