Default Emley Moor Marshals

Morning all.

We are trying something new at Emley Moor for the marshals. On the course, there will be 4 shooting marshals starting at pegs 2,9,16 and 24.

These Marshals will sign cards and dispense information and guidance if needed, they will also have a new high-quality radio and will call the roving chief marshal who will be based in the middle of the course. There will be a Chrono marshal as well and we will try and place the Chrono tent in a section that will allow the Chrono marshal to also check targets if needed.

This is a trial and I would like any feedback that you are happy to give.

Gary

This seemed to work pretty well and people seemed to wait for a "peg" marshal to take their shot before asking for their help or for the chief marshal. Not that there were many queries when I was shooting!!
Two chief marshals was a good idea.

It worked OK at Emley, still had a problem with the mix of new and old radios though. Will explain at Gathering if you haven't been told before.

Me and Nige Oram were on peg 16 , we decided to split duty's i had the arm band and sighned off on cards and Nige had the radio and called for ceasefire's (hope this is ok). Personally i think the new system works very well.

Agree fully with the above.

The experiment seemed to go very well. Two-way radios to/from the chrono tent are needed though.

Thanks for your support this year Gary. Get well soon old chap! 🤤🤢

I think there were certainly fewer ceasefires at Emley than at some shoots this year. This may have helped though not be related to the marshalling scheme.

Default Marshalling

As a marshal it had little impact on me or my shooting as I only signed a few cards .. but for me the down side was as there were no roving marshals between set pegs watching what people were doing ... relying on shooting partners to see if they were touching the peg / correct
Shooting positions ect self policing .. it defeated the object .. how do we know if people are adhering to the rules... 👍

There will normally be two roving chief marshals enforcing the rules with a rod of iron, however, I was taken ill and we could not cover my marshaling session.

So, for the first half of session one there was only a single marshal.

Exclamation

Gary irrespective even if you had been there or not two marshals cannot cover 30 pegs and the marshals on the pegs can only watch the shooter they are with
