I have shot extensivley at 55 yardswith most of the FT guns on the market over the last 10 yr. All are capable of 10mm groups with the right pellets in the right conditions. The best performer is the P70FT which is less fussy with pellets and barel condition. This gun can be relied on to put in the best gorups without 'off days'.

Default groups

all of my domis will group well with the correct pellets .the best one i have is my spare and one that i sold with a mach 1 barrel was very good .

remember though groups dont win comps .

i find that you have some days you can group and some you cant ,i prefer to shoot targets.

finding the correct pellet is the key to groups

Thats something i dont agree with fully.

A tighter group means your pellet should go where you want it to go, so less channce of high + low hits + splits.

in comps, where targets fall over we dont always know where a pellet went in. Sometimes its a "lucky" shot just inside or off an edge when the wind is not judged / guessed correctly.
A gun that does not group tght may see a peelet strike the plate at say 10 / 11 oclock, as apposed to sneaking inside 9.

Smaller kills show this more than the 40 ml ones.

IMO rangefinding is more critical than grouping in FT. I agree with Mike good groups don't win comps, anywhere on the paddle is enough for for me.

I have shot a few guns but found the Steyr easier to group consistently well with. Ripley was very good but needed good technique, CRX also good. Again down to pellets and finding a good batch to suit the barrel funnily enough a few years back finding a good batch wasn't as difficult as now either was grouping.

I think a good trigger helps with good groups. The pellets have to be right as well.

I do like tight groups as on a windy day you need to be dropping the pellet right into the widest part of the kill (across the middle) to get the most chance of a hit.
This is also where the accurate rangefinding that Conor mentions comes into play as well.

[QUOTE=NJR 100;67032]Thats something i dont agree with fully.

the point i was making is that on some days grouping is good on others its not so good .if a rifle will not group inside 40 mm at 55 yards then ,your not going to hit the target ,

groups on paper or boards are fine but its targets that counts .

i find shooting at boards and paper is boaring i prefer targets,i always check my 1st 2 targets oon a comp just to make sure my rangeing is spot on ,

wind and rangeing is far more important ,

Default Groups ?

This old chesnut again . as the man says , groups do not win comps . good rangefinding and windage win comps . as nick used to say , if your rifle can group into an inch at 55 yards you are on your way and even an EV2 will do that ??? HOLLY
PS range quick , shoot slow .
