Default Furnace Mill 90 Target Endurance Competition 10/9/17

Sunshine and showers were the order of the day for the competitors in the annual 90 target Endurance Competition here at Furnace Mill. This year we used the Enchanted Wood, Furnace Coppice and Tunnel Pool Courses. Team Wales took the honours on all of the courses with Dan McMahon scoring a very impressive 59 on the first, followed by Stuart James and Jason Bressington scoring 57 on the next two courses respectively.

At the end of the day we had a tie at the top as Dan and Stuart both finished on 166 with Tony Male and Kev Clarke coming 3rd and 4th with 164 and 162.

The shoot off consisted of a wild boar and two bird silhouette target looking tiny at approximately 35 yards in the standing position. Dan went first and took the boar with ease but couldn’t kill the two birds. Stu missed the boar but nailed the small bird in the middle and then missed the 3rd. Second time round Stu went first and nailed the boar and the small bird but just missed the 3rd. Time for Dan to step up. Once again the boar fell, but then he nailed the small bird and the slightly larger one too, seemingly with ease. A round of applause was thoroughly deserved from the small gathering that remained to watch this impressive display. In fact, Dan had an awesome day taking 17 of the 18 positional shots scattered throughout the 3 courses.

Well done to Kev Gaunt who won the Recoiling Trophy with an impressive score of 140.

Huge thanks to Ken for putting out the strings to 75 of the targets in the pouring rain yesterday and to everyone who helped to collect them in after completing each course. As usual Mik Mon did a great job booking everyone in, cheers Mik! Sorry you weren’t able to stay and shoot.

A thoroughly enjoyable day with only 2 stoppages over the whole 90 targets and they were for broken strings that had been nibbled at by the local deer. Thanks to everyone who attended and we look forward to seeing you again next year.

As above. & thank to all the people who helped out to make this a good day, a long with some good old banter & a few bits of yummy cake etc.
Dan well done for the win, you & Stu have some mad skills !

I'm just aching a bit now after putting out the strings in that dam rain ! But it was worth it even if my scores dropped with all that walking about,,,, that's my excuse
Got to say the hft500 is a nice bit of kit after using it for the first time properly on this long day.

Thank you all for your kind comments and for coming along to take part. It was a fantastic day and we thoroughly enjoyed everyone's company. It was also a pleasure to watch some absolutely amazing shooting, especially the shoot off between Stu and Dan.

Please don't forget the Rose Bowl next Sunday http://www.shooting-the-breeze.com/f...ad.php?t=38133
