Default Ransomeware

Some of you may be aware of a ransomware attack on the NHS. In fact it spread across 74 countries and attacks windows systems. This forum is safe.

However although it's been stopped, people should ensure their machines have the latest updates installed. For windows XP and other out of date windows system users there's a specific patch from Microsoft.

I'd suggest everyone ensures they are up to date with updates and ensure they are installed automatically.

That's scary stuff mate. My work had a ransomware attack a couple of months ago. Managed to isolate and restored backups so no harm done.

Dived into my work first thing this morning and turned out internet off. Told my boss Monday morning all systems will be down until I've checked everybody is patched. Should be, but a lot of users don't shut down their pc for updates to install. And sods law my backup server went pear shaped on Tuesday and had to rebuild and configure a new one and only finished it yesterday.

So folks, also don't open any dodgy emails especially with zip attachments.

Looking forward to an exciting Monday morning....not.

A thousand curses on the geeky wee bas*ards that do this crap. Still could be worse, sod being in IT in the NHS this weekend.
