I have a foot in mouth removal tool Chris.

I could bring it to Emley, or you could try it in a field near me.

I'll get permission.

Hardly....please read my original post, he never mentioned permission nor in his reply when i asked if he was joking. Why didn't he say that he had permission when i asked him if he was joking?

Handy to now say that he had permission all along.

Edit. How would you interprate this reply....

"i have just moved to bradford bd20 *** there are alot of fields near am sure we can find somewhere for you to try "

I'm sure we can find somewhere for you to try?....not, come along to my permission and see how it groups. Poor communication?, maybe....humble pie?....feck off.

I have to admit I see Dan's point.

It is not clear from the context of your reply "eh? your joking right" what you mean.

In all fairness, it makes more than perfect sense to me that, if he's going to find a suitable field, he's going to ask the owner for permission. That's how I interpreted his reply -- it is precisely what I would have done.

I do now, because, seeing the discussion, I see how Dan might have completely NOT understood why you txt "you're joking, right?", and would probably have thought ok, let's give it a miss... and I don't think it's really fair to put the blame on him.

The foot-in-mouth removal tool seems like just what the doctor ordered here.

Yup, obviously.

Call me oldfashioned, but I call a lot and text very little. Here's why:

if I'd be Dan, and you would've said to me on the phone "eh... you're joking, right?" I would've gone "... what?" and you'd have explained yourself, and I would've laughed and said "oh, don't worry, I've asked the owner if it's ok, and he said no problem", or something.

This is a classic example of two people who could've had a great afternoon and a good deal gone wrong. I can see your side, but I can see his side as well. If you would've taken this by phone rather than by text, you might now be the owner of a very nice Pro Target and a blissful lack of hard feelings.

Yes, exactly my thought train as well, i couldn't phone as i was at work in the Netherland and the roaming costs would have been silly for both phones.. Maybe i was a little harsh posting on here but it genuinely shocked me that someone would be happy to pop into a local field to try out a rifle, that's what i thought Dan was suggesting.

Dan...if our wires have been crossed then i apologise.
