I will explain the situation as I know it.
At the AGM in November, SARPA confirmed that the venue for the GP would be North Ayrshire.
As we (BFTA) did not know of the ground, we asked SARPA for confirmation that North Ayrshire would be a suitable location and have the facilities needed to host a GP, e.g. car parking, toilets, zero range etc.
At the EGM in January, we were assured by SARPA that the ground had all the facilities necessary to hold a GP and experienced FT shooters would be involved in the preparation and hosting of the GP.
I have received an email this morning stating that, having visited the ground on Saturday and having been in discussion with the members of the North Ayrshire club, some SARPA members believe that the facilities on offer mean that the ground will not be a suitable location to hold a GP. They do not want people to travel many hundreds of miles to experience a disappointing GP.
As such, I have been told that the SARPA GP will not be held this year.
We are trying to arrange an alternative location for the GP, and as soon as we have any news, we will let people know.
