The more specialised something becomes, the less flexible/accomodating it becomes.
Some people in 10m have gone back to the old style rubber butt plates...
If it's comfy, your probably ok, and in HFT you cant touch it, so it's better to have something flexible. If your unsure as to whether it's a good fit, feel around it with your other hand, or get someone to look over it... ideally it should follow the contour of your shoulder, not have any gaps and not have a bit sticking up or down...
