I've tried floating the barrel and it's a mistake as far as my rifle is concerned. I now have the barrel secured into the action with the factory screws on top, and two M5 grub screws at 120 degrees, forming a 3-point pincer movement. Necessary only because the turned end of the barrel is an appallingly sloppy fit in the action.
I still have the factory figure of 8 at the front.
I have a mk1 and mk4 ev2, both have floating barrel's, the mk1 barrel was being pushed up when u slid the muzzle break on, the mk 4 was better, but the first thing i did after id got it was float the barrel, both guns are superb, the mk 4 just shades it on accurcy.. in my opinion floating the barrel is a must, andy calpin, james osborne, and ian taylor all shoot ev2's with floated barrels.. and lets face it they are the best ft shooters around
