yes, an adjustable rear iris helps but in general you shouldn't focus on either of the three components (target, foresight or the rear "tunnel"). They all need to be concentric but out of focus otherwise one of them tends to be not concentric. Hard to do but when both your eyes relax you get a sort of tunnel effect and you will know when it is all just right (by which point you will have released the shot).

You can also find old Anschutz rear sights with adjustable apertures for a lot less than the Gehmann.
