I agree that Gp's are national comp's and as such should be attended with due respect,but how interesting will it be with no one there.
We need to find a balance,grade people properly so all can enjoy.
Trophy hunters are trophy hunters! Perhaps a shooter with no grades (regional) prior to gp 1 needs to be graded after 3 shoots. Take their points and trophies with them from that point on?
I know Mathew CVook was already regional A class when he started in BFTA C class this year and wiped the floor with A - AA scores. For me, he should have been graded on his regioanl and Bfta inters / champs scores. H would have cleaned up if he had not joined the RAF!!
Bur i still say on the whole those new or C / B / some A are not going to put the effort into doing 9 Gp.
Guns, scopes and pellets are giving us super accurate guns, so we need a stiffer test of shooting skill for me.
