I only ever shoot the SWEFTA GP so I'm not really allowed to express an opinion, but in my view (as scores and grading sec for SWEFTA this year) the objective should be for each ground to maximise the opportunity offered by its land, terrain, exposure and so on, within a core set of rules that are permissive rather than imperative. Then the second but equally important task is to get the course designers to accept that ideally all courses should be of similar (but not identical) "difficulty". As GP courses they are expected to stretch the ability of the nation's best FT exponents, yet still offer the vision and anticipation that a clearance is possible.
