Default MaDAS 40 FT Shoot Sun 23 Jan (NZ)

Rangitikei Rods and Rifles MaDAS 40 Match Report
Call it Murphy’s law – but if you are ever in need of rain then try scheduling an outdoor event!!
Anyway, the Rangitikei Rods and Rifles MaDAS 40 did go ahead although prior to the start, and because of the lousy weather a command decision was made to reduce the shoot to a single round, and finish with a lunchtime sausage sizzle.
We had assembled 8 hardy shooters and 1 not so hardy range safety officer. The course ranged from about 12 to 40m and consisted of the normal variety of elevated (see pics) targets, standers, kneelers and reduced KZ’s.
The open PCP and Springer classes were represented by members from WAG’s and MaDAS attended. Even though there wasn’t too much wind the rain certainly proved to be something very uncomfortable to be shooting in for extended periods of time. Obviously everyone started off dry, but as the shoot progressed the shooters realised just how effective their clothing was. The decision to reduce the shoot to a single round proved to be the right one.
During the shoot, and looking in from behind, it was really good to see how much progress everyone made in the last few months and how well they were able to put it to good effect.
The springer class was hotly contested with the five shooters within 5 shots. The winner was Neil Kinsey with runner up going to Bronwyn Shields. Close third went to a three way tie!!
The Open class was again a closely fought battle with Dave Johnston just pipping Jeff for the winner’s prize!! Only two shots separating them!!
Id like to once again pay a huge thanks to “Rangitikei Rods and Rifles” for providing us with support for this event. This sort of sponsorship really does give the sport some exposure.
Id like to thank all the support from the shooters that made the effort to attend in weather that i certainly would have had to think twice about shooting in. If you can shoot in those conditions, everything else will be a doddle!
Lastly thanks to the MaDAS committee for the work they did in putting this together at such a short notice. Just shows what can be done when there’s a will!
Roll on the MaDAS NZafta shoot Sunday March 27. It should be another good event. Sponsorship support for this shoot has already been very encouraging. See you all there. And remember PCP=FAL.
