Dear Audience MemberReference CAS-336671Thank you for your e-mail regarding
‘Commonwealth Games’ on BBC One broadcast on 4th September.I understand you’re
unhappy that the Pairs Men 10 m Air Rifle medal ceremony was not shown. I note
because other ceremonies were shown you feel the BBC is biased against certain
sports. The choice of details to report in our programmes can be difficult as
editorial staff always have more reports than can be fitted into the time available.
Their choice has to be selective and no matter how carefully such decisions are
made, they're always aware that some people may disagree with them. However, we
broadcast across television, radio and internet as well as interactive services such
as BBC Red Button and Ceefax and this allows us to cover reports in greater detail
with a broader range of informative not possible on one bulletin.Out of interest,
you can access some of our reports at the following
guided by the feedback that we receive and to that end I'd like to assure you that
I've registered your complaint on our audience log. This is a daily report of
audience feedback that's circulated to many BBC staff, including members of the BBC
Executive Board, programme makers, channel controllers and other senior managers. The
audience logs are seen as important documents that can help shape decisions about
future programming and content.Kind RegardsJames GormanBBC
missed the point that it was radio 1 and the pair's silver wasn't mentioned in between a gold and a bronze... but it got there...
