Research is a good thing.

Probably the factort that will tell us the most about it over time, will be actually shooting, and taking notes in matches of instances and conditions.

I think one needs to be aware of wind shear near slopes and obstructions too. That is another issue entirely.

A very specialised set of conditions would have to be set up to have a controlled test of the theory, such as a flat open field and wind direction and speed measurement devices.......while shooting the rifle from a clamped position/bench or concrete abutment.

Yes it is a good thought provoking discussion.
