Default I'm having trouble..

I have a Daystate MK3 that doesn't group very used to, I've had it serviced and batteries replaced but it still isn't very good. I've been using JSB 4.52's and have tried a couple of different variants but to no avail so now I want to do a larger pellet trial.
So...what I would like to know is
1) How many pellets would give a fairly accurate showing?
2) Should the barrel be cleaned between tests.

Any help would be appreciated.

I don't like going to the dentist
