In FT, i've often pondered for a few seconds the idea of AAA... but too be honest, it doesn't bother me that seeing a trophy isn't that easy now i'm in AA anymore... I know it might sound ungrateful, but the trophies i'm after say first place irrespective of grade... winning isn't everything, but once in AA the trophies mean less to me.

I think trophies are however more important to the new shooters. I have fond memories of winning them, but the one that sticks in my mind is winning an open outright. The rest came quite easily as I didn't go into A grade as expected, and was stuck in B for a season... then went into AA.

I think the trick with grading is to make it as flexible as possible, but still maintaining competition across the season. It's not easy... the same regs you'd use to shift a ringer up a grade could see you pulling new shooters who are doing well up as well...

I'm glad i'm not a format organiser
