FWIW, for a long time I used a MK4 for FT, once I discovered that if it was set up in extremes of light condition it would shift, I experiemnted to get as close to 'middle of the road' light conditions as possible and make my range markings. By the description of the 'middle of the road' light conditions I favour a bright but lightly overcast sky giving a slightly diffuse light rather than hard glare or deep shadows.

When I did that I never found any problems with it shifting ranges drastically in other conditions, the variance had reduced to +/- a yard. I am currently using a 35x Comp Series and have applied the same thing to it and so far have not had any problem with it.
