One problem with practicing is that there is no real negative to missing a target.
I sometimes practice by setting up targets from 10 yards to 45 yards at 5 yard intervals.
You must hit the 10 yard target 3 times in succession to move onto the next target.
If you miss a shot then move back to the next closest target and start a new 3 shots.
Try and work your way out to 45 yards.
If you miss the 10 yard target - it's time to stop and have a rest
