1. Raises the height of the scope (the picture is not a good example as the scope is mounted too high for the comb, unless the owner is a giraffe) higher than typical mounts alone in order to make shooting more comfortable (more upright head position) and easier calibration for the longer range targets.
2. They come with some built in MOA adjustment so less clicks to max target range, no shims required, stay closer to optical center...
