I haven't tried my 0.22 Steyr without the stabiliser but can confirm that to "deaden" it requires much more movement than for 0.177, from memory I think its 37mm Vs 25mm.

Logical I suppose as the stabilser is the equal and opposite force to the pellet acceleration - however as both are 12ftlb is that true.. need to think about that?

So from that pragmatic observation I would say a stabiliser in 0.22 is more important than 0.177.
