Not just down to cost - though that is a useful starting point - there are a number of different designs and some suit some people better than others. The first type I had (VERY expensive) - I kept knocking my drinks over. Current ones better for that, but can still give me 5 yard errors in range finding and I suspect similar in aim just from infinitesimal changes in head position. Remember on an FT scope the exit diameter is only around 1mm so it doesn't take much difference in head position to cover that
