Ah yeah - you posted as I was typing.

My thinking on the low mounts is that for a duplex ret you have fewer aim marks (essentially 3 - crosshair, top of thick post and half way between the two).
So going to a lower mount will make the really close ones a bit easier to find an aim point on the ret.

Workable with any height mounts though, it's not a general recommendation, just a recommendation for this particular case because of fewer reference points on the ret
