No reason why you can't do well in HFT with a 30/30 ret.
Your aim points are a bit more restricted, especially for the close range shots - so I'd recommend using low mounts if you can, turn the scope up to 9x and zero the pointed bit of the bottom thick post to be your 45 yard aim point. Then check to see where your crosshairs are zeroed - I'd guess they'll be zeroed somewhere around 25-30 yards.
It'll then be a case of figuring out a good reference point for the ranges below 12 yards. Should be doable though I reckon.
