So over the last couple of days i decided to take on the task of machining my own rail riser... I was going to use blocks but i thought a rail would look nicer. I contacted a few people but as ISP's are each hand made and as a result are all different no one has a CNC blue prints like production rifles (AA, Steyr, FWB) etc... So i decided to take the task on my self.
Having never machined a riser before i was kinda just jumping in at the deep end, constantly checking that it was within tolerance and making light cuts. I was surprised just how long it took! Hats of to those that machine custom parts by hand, i can see why a lot of people use CNC for parts like this. However as i don't have access to CNC equipment i decided to take this job on using my little Warco WM18 mill. I would say this riser took 2 days (on and off) for me to machine but i am very happy with the results
next is to decide what colour to anodise it
I'm thinking gun metal like the block but then i think would black look better and the part of me thinks blue
think i might decide that tomorrow after its all polished up. For now i hope you enjoy the photo's
