Hate doing this kind of thing, but as sometimes rules are enforced very rigidly need a couple of points clarified (has grown arms and legs on the first one, with one question turning into two)
When setting out courses you must place targets and pegs to allow for both right handed, left handed and Junior shooters taking part in the event.
Is there any limitation in measured terms where the target can be shot from on the peg of a non off the peg shot? My interpretation of this is no, as long as for instance doable for all categories in the quote.
Reason for the question is due to this
There can be upto 4x “off the peg” shots using 35-45mm hit zones where at least 50% of the kill must be visible from 6" up the peg & 100% visible no more than 2ft from the
This is where ive kinda been mixed up - I have treated all targets in this way, ie at least 50% of the kill must be visible from 6 inch up (which leads onto another bloody question
!!) But my reading of this now is as it reads, only for off the peg.
Resulting question from that is, 6inch up the peg with a scope in hand or 6 inch up the peg with the rifle in hand.
Background where this has come from - On positioning a target today, we were going for the close range trap (> 8yds) and forcing the shooter to go up the peg to take the target. I sighted it in with my rifle (EV2 no hamster 40mm objective low mounts - so not sitting high) with my fist on the peg at ground level (about 4 inch distance from ground to base of rifle, probably about 7 inch, ground to centre line of scope) From here i cound see 100% of kill. Other course setter done it with scope only at 6inch and couldnt see kill at all.
This is'nt a designated off the peg shot. It will require all shooters to go up the peg, but reckon even a small junior could get there rifle to a position to shoot this and avoid the trap without undue strain.
Lastly this got brought up today and i was asked while firing this lot in for clarification on this (sorry
All Targets must be painted with either Yellow or White faceplates with Black Hit zones
Does this mean all targets on a course must be all white, all yellow, or is it ok to have a mix of white and yellow painted targets on a course?
To summarise the questions
- Is there any limitation in measured terms where the target can be shot from on the peg of a non off the peg shot
- On an off the peg shot -Is the 6inch up the peg with a scope in hand or 6 inch up the peg with the rifle in hand.
- Do all targets on a course have to be either, all white, all yellow, or is it ok to have a mix of white and yellow painted targets on a course?
Thanks for your patience and answers
