It's just the way the wind is felt, even a wind behind you is going to fool you into thinking there is more wind around than there is.
For instance, GP1 at Meon, the wind was fish-tailing from the rear on the lower part of the course, then half-way along the course turned a corner. On the lower section you could pretty much ignore the wind, but once round the corner suddenly you had a switchable wind which was enough to tip the shot out of the kill, so you had to pick a side.
