Agreed...i do find it odd that we try using a single chrono. To remove any variation why not use 3 different chrono's, a pellet through each and take the mean value? or at least 2 of the 3 readings. For example if the 3 readings are 793, 790 and 802 then the shooter carries on but if 2 of the 3 readings are over then they are gone. We all know some chrono's suffer with light conditions and the position of the barrel but using multiple chrono's 'should'
remove the concerns of the shooter and negate most arguements.
Good idea Chris, maybe a good start to at least try to have two chronos available and the second one could be a standby initially and then used to check anything that was called as hot, if a second chrono shows it to be hot then game over and a reminder of who is responsible for making sure that the gun is legal.
