Certainly a good idea, I think a lot of shooters have got sick of winding in strings over the years.
One option which would be interesting would be to have the bullseye LED off as a sort of hidden target, so you have to use your best judgement and shooting skill to place the shot correctly and only get a flashing LED for a hit and just a dink for a miss.
For the ultimate in no maintenance, small cheap solar panels similar to on garden lights could be fixed on the back to charge up the internal battery during the week for the Sunday shoot.
