One of the main things is about the number of times per year you use it or if you change the general purpose.
You cannot for instance set up a shoot there every week or fortnight without permission, even if still used for agricultural or otherwise.
I seem to remember Hull ARC running foul of this and having to stop using their field and moved on to Burton Agnes. I have some of my own land and I did look into this a little bit. Your best bet is speak to your planning department once you have found some suitable land.
