The x40 Comp. is a good compromise between rangefinding ability and brightness of image.
The only negative I have ever found with the comp. scopes is the standard BR reticle can be lost in woodland as it is very thin.

The positives of the scope far outweigh any negatives though; bright, crisp, contrasty image which makes rangefinding easy once you learn to just nibble the edge of focus. Compact and light, at 590g it's very light which is useful if you need to shed some weight somewhere.
