Sightron's have been known to suffer in this respect and the SIII FT I recently tested did it when looking at a brightly backlit target or when the sun was low and shining across the objective lens.
You can overcome this by reducing the magnification, and also to a degree by fitting a sun shade.
I shoot with approximately 6 other shooters that have the SIII FT and we all suffer from the same "white out" issue. From the little research I have done, it seems to be a common issue with Sightron scopes.
My work-around is to fit a big nikko sunshade as its longer than the Sightron sunshade and reduce mag when ranging.
Hope this helps.
