Something we do with newcomers to FT, not original but it seems to work, is to get them to sit comfortably as though they are going to shoot a target, but with nothing in their hands. Then we place a rifle and see what needs to be done to it, to line up with their body position.
We don't find many who want to use the high knees together and elbow around position. Maybe it's because many today are too well fed, me included.
If you can find the time for two days over here, book yourself on a club instructor course; you'll learn a huge amount. Not just about teaching others but for your own basic skills. We had a shooter from Rotterdam on a course we ran a while back.
