It all looks specific but when you explore deeper, maybe it isn't. For example, it talks about air weapon clubs, and approved air weapon clubs. As a club, you become the latter when the chief constable approves the club. Sounds logical enough.

But what are the conditions for approval and what parameters are taken into account? None of that is specified; it just says in section 36 that ministers can make provisions and vary them as they wish.

This must leave all the existing clubs in Scotland high and dry, with no pointer as to what they should be preparing to do.

If it ends up going the way of HO approved clubs, with someone having to keep a record of how many times each member had used which rifle and how many pellets they have fired, there won't be any clubs left, and if they're not a member of a club many folk will struggle to show good reason for a licence.
